How does Oppo feel about Maybach?

People are saying that the new S-Class has more than continued the long tradition of the Benz flagship by being the best car in the world. And it's about to get even better, with Maybach and Pullman versions on the horizon. People say that the old Maybach failed because it was just an uglier, more expensive S-Class. I disagree, and while I prefer the Phantom, I can say with confidence that my second half million dollar barge when I strike it rich will be a 62 Zeppelin. After all, for a $500,000 limo, it's fairly fast and sporty, and it flies under the radar, so to But how does Oppo feel about them? Crystals and diamond timepieces optional.

Honestly for real luxury, as in you have a driver and you address him as driver, I don't care what it looks like outside. It's all about how I feel inside and the Maybach seemed to do that job rather nicely.

Now, here's a follow-up question: That or the interior on a Phantom?

There are no wrong answers here.

It's less ostentatious than a RR. But that's also kind of the problem too right?

Personally i'd prefer it to the Rolls, because I like rolling in anonymity. But that being the case i'd probably just prefer a nice A8L to any of them.

Because they're goddamn geniuses with serious history. It's like listening to a country singer who lived in the mountains for most of his life fighting bears and is now a billionaire media mogul. People like that just don't exist in other genres anymore.

The video I posted, in particular, has a line that references Ace of Spades ( Armand de Brignac ) a Champagne brand. What he had done was move from Cristal to Ace of Spades as a personal choice relating to racism allegations about Cristal.

In reality, he had received massive stock options from Ace of Spades and had cut them a deal worth around $50-70mil as of today. Think about that for a second. This guy is so good at music and media that he found a way to earn $50 million dollars by changing champagne brands. There is no modern rock star, no modern country singer, no modern pop singer who can carry the kind of respect that I would give him in music today.

Plus, the music itself is actually extremely well-created.

To bring the point home, the rumor is that the same thing, with both Kanye and Jay Z, happened with Maybach, which is why they owned, drove, and referenced it throughout the Watch the Throne album. However, I'm not quite sure how much profit they made from Daimler Benz. Rick Ross, another rapper, created a label called "Maybach Music", but failed to generate much success and is trying to keep the idea alive.

99.9% of rappers out there are not very good, just like how 99.9% of coutnry singers aren't, but that 0.1% like Jay Z, Kanye West, Biggie Smalls, Dr. Dre, and Eminem? They are financial giants playing in the largest media sandbox. Their music has meaning because they actually live for success and victory. At one time, that meant that they were actively involved in drugs and criminal activity. Nowadays, it means that they are operating extremely large businesses and making large amounts of money. Rap warfare is about dollars, not bullets, now.

Like I said, it's the equivalent of a country singer who actually lived in the mountains for most of his life, and has since created a massive music industry and become the best in his field. People like that are rare, and I hold a lot of respect for them.

Never Say Never Again right?

Kinja'd!!! GhostZ > sm70- why not Duesenberg?

1. Jay Z's earlier profession was dealing drugs, which got him out of the slums and into a record studio to start making music. Then he became extremely wealthy. Many other rappers started out this way, though not so much anymore.

2. Being popular isn't enough. Like I said, victory isn't measured in bullets anymore, it's measured in dollars. They get very little of their income from the sales of their records alone. Most of it is through complex financial planning and subtle marketing deals. Dr. Dre's Beats brand is another example of this. Their higher profit margins come from tours, also.

There are hundreds, probably closer to thousands, of rappers who are equally skilled as these guys at just making music. Many more of them have their heart and soul into it, but what separates them is the business mind, like the difference between a computer programmer and Bill Gates. There are programmers who could run circles around Bill Gates, but he's the richest man in the world for more than just his programming skill.

Assuming that Popular Music = Money is a naive assumption. These guys have got it down to a science, they can make anyone popular, but record sales alone isn't that much. But they want to influence businesses, consumers, and change the way people think about eachother. To do that, they use extensive marketing and media. In that way, music is alive in rap right now, and it's a very complex system that's fascinating to study.

I believe you, and I get what you're saying now, but I just don't like rap. I respect it, and the artists who are great at it, but I just don't like it.

As for the business side of what your were saying, you are absolutely correct. However, for me, one of the only downsides of a Maybach would be that it is often seen as a rapper's car.

Here in NYC there are more than a few Maybachs, all pretty ugly. Sure, I'm sitting inside, but I have to get into it during the day sometimes.

The GF's boss has a car and a driver. BMW 7 cost too much to maintain even for a rich guy, and he's tired of an endless string of Town Cars. I thought about it, and suggested a Lexus 600hL. Been in one - comfortable, most likely dead reliable.

1. I see more 7-Series than I do S-Classes.

2. The difference is, if you just buy a Camry right away without cross-shopping, you're cheating yourself. If you just buy an S-Class, you're getting what is in many ways the best car in its class. Especially with the new one.

Well, you question was "why do you expect me to listen to this?" thought I'd do my best at answering.

But you're correct about the image that happened to Maybach, and it was a big affect on its lack of success. There's only about 30 rappers in the world worth more than $45m, and the income discrepancy for the job is one of the largest in the world. I doubt there would be, at any time, 10 rappers who could afford and want a Maybach at any given point.

The reality of it was that everyone liked the concept, but it wasn't worth putting the money out for it by the people who fit the profile best. Sort of like the VW Phaeton.
